Enterprising Finish to Schools Challenge

May 8, 2014

The 2014 Energy Enterprise Challenge final was help at the end of May 2014, with 14 local schools taking part. The pupils were tasked with writing and presenting their business plan for a wind turbine jacket, which they had designed and subsequently built.

Judging was undertaken by Local Councillors, Peter Wright from Fife Councils Education department and also Paul and Tony from local renewable energy business, EPM.

After a lot of deliberation, the winners were announced, and presented their prizes by Councillor Lesley Laird who is responsible for Enterprise.

The winners were : Pittenweem Primary School, closely followed by Strathkinness Primary School in second place, and Markinch Primary School in third. The standard was extremely high this year and the judges struggled to differentiate between the models made and between the business cases presented. Congratulations to everyone who took part, you should be very proud of your achievements!

We help demonstrate the role the energy efficiency, renewables & hydrogen play in reducing the impact of climate change and securing the world's future energy supply.
